Fir wood

Cedar is an important living resource in Japan. In the Yayoi era, when there were few tools to use, cedar wood was easy to process and had excellent wood quality. In contrast to the Western "stone culture," cedar supported Japan's "wood culture," which can be said to represent Japan's wood. Cedar leaves are used for incense and resin medicine. The essential oil contained in the core material is called "woody aroma", which has a certain anti-corrosion effect and is often added to Japanese wine. One of the world cultural heritage sites, the Zhengcang Courtyard, preserves cultural relics with a history of over a thousand years left over from the era of Emperor Seimu. The mystery lies in the fact that the wooden cabinet used to place the relics is made of cedar, which also shows the anti-corrosion effect of cedar.
